Your Shopify store is live. Orders are coming in. Then — without warning — your checkout page times out for three minutes during a flash sale. You lose $800. You find out from a customer tweet.
That's exactly the kind of incident uptime monitoring exists to catch — and prevent. This guide shows you how to set up SitePiper monitoring in under five minutes, using a real example: monitoring a Shopify storefront.
No ops background required.
Most site owners find out about downtime the same way: an angry customer, a Slack message, or a Twitter mention. By then, the damage is done.
An uptime monitor checks your site every 30 seconds. The moment your endpoint stops returning a healthy response, you know — before your customers do. SitePiper tracks:
Go to sitepiper.app/dashboard and sign up. No credit card required to get started.
Once you're in, you'll land on your dashboard — currently empty. That changes in the next 60 seconds.
In the dashboard, click Add Endpoint. You'll see two fields:
https://your-store.myshopify.com)Shopify Storefront)Enter your store URL and a label, then save. SitePiper begins pinging it immediately.
Good endpoints to monitor for a Shopify store:
https://your-store.myshopify.comhttps://your-store.myshopify.com/checkouthttps://your-store.myshopify.com/products/your-best-sellerAdd all three. SitePiper monitors unlimited endpoints on all plans — so don't hold back.
After a minute, your endpoints will show a live status badge:
Green is good. Amber means investigate. Red means act now.
Click any endpoint row to see its ping history — a rolling record of every check SitePiper has run. You'll see:
This history is stored indefinitely. If something goes wrong at 3am on a Sunday, you'll have the receipts on Monday morning.
What to look for: A single slow ping is normal. A cluster of DEGRADE pings — say, five in a row between 14:23 and 14:26 — is a pattern worth investigating.
When an endpoint enters a DEGRADE, CRITICAL, or ERROR state, a Diagnose button appears next to it in your dashboard. Click it.
SitePiper's AI analyzes the last 20 pings — error codes, latency trends, response anomalies — and returns a plain-English explanation of what went wrong and how to fix it. For example:
"Latency spiked from 340ms to 8,200ms over 12 consecutive pings starting at 14:23 UTC. Pattern is consistent with a Shopify CDN origin timeout or a third-party app blocking the render thread. Check your installed apps for recent updates and review Shopify Status at status.shopify.com."
